Zone Striping, Inc. recently completed temporary and permanent line striping, removal of line striping, pavement reflectors and milled rumble strips for Contract P300.162(E) on the Garden State Parkway. Prior to the start of work in 2013, this section of the Parkway still contained three “at grade” signalized intersections. The contract involved the construction of three full interchanges and bridges to carry main line traffic over the intersecting County Roads as well as major upgrades to those County Roads.

The complexity of the bridge and interchange construction on this project required multiple phases and traffic switches in order to keep the mainline Parkway traffic flowing. With a large portion of the work being performed during the summer months, special attention was given to the substantial increase in traffic volume during the summer vacation season. This resulted in Zone Striping, Inc. mobilizing over 50 times to remove nearly 155,000 LF of existing striping and to install over 750,000 LF of temporary striping so that construction could continue without interruption.

After completion of the final paving in the spring of 2016, nearly 170,000 LF of thermoplastic and 150,000 LF of epoxy resin traffic paint was installed. This was followed up by the installation of nearly 3,000 snow plowable pavement reflectors in just 3 shifts. The final operation completed by Zone Striping, Inc. on this project was the installation of over 72,000 LF of milled rumble strips on the inside and outside shoulders of the mainline Parkway.
